Mack Music is pleased to announce that Doron Zor is a Mack Endorsing Artist. Doron is a master blues/fusion guitarist based in Toronto.
Born in Israel, Doron emigrated to Canada at age 14. He moved back to Israel four years later to study music full time thereafter putting in 18 hour days in pursuit of a Masters Degree in music ... with a major in blazing guitar!
Since moving back to Toronto with his degree in hand, Doron has dived into the local music scene as a teacher, session player and leader of The Doron Zor Band (www.DoronZorBand.com).
Doron has released a highly praised instructional video titled “Doron Zor Ultimate Licks”. He also has released his debut album “A New Fusion” in 2008 and followed that up this year with another very strong blues/fusion album Kong S'quare.
Doron found Mack Music via Dot On Shaft Guitars where he played through a DOS Sunbird SB-18 (made by Mack). The next day he sold his 100 watt Marshall head and phoned Mack determined to somehow play one of our amps full time!
With the launch of the Skyraider line of Mack Amps, Doron found his tone. The now plays a Skyraider SR-15C combo to get his signature tone reminiscent of the legendary Larry Carlton and Robben Ford... melded and moulded by Doron’s unique abilities.
Sitting in a small room listening to Doron burn over rhythm tracks from his upcoming album through a Mack amp is an experience to be remembered! Truly jaw dropping sweep picking, hammer-ons and pull offs, intricate alternate picked lines and funky nylon string licks (all on the same song – he’s very adept and switching back and forth between his electric and the nylon string mid-song!) were something to behold. Doron is a true master technician to be sure, but one with feel, swing and musicality – unusual to say the least. Plus, his compositions are both complex and hugely funky. Great music!
If you’re a fan of fusion, funk and blues overlaid with a sheen of jazz smoke you’ll love Doron Zor. Expect to hear big things from this truly exceptional guitarist ... all played through a Mack Skyraider!
