Mack Music is thrilled to have Valerie McLeod as an endorsing artist.
Valerie is the force behind Val Halla a Vancouver based band that released its first self-titled CD in 2007 on Valerie’s own label Valkyrie Productions. Prior to the formation of Val Halla, Valerie released two solo CDs.
The band toured in support of the album and regularly gigs around the Vancouver area.
Valerie is truly a multi-talented musician. A gifted songwriter in multiple genres, she possesses a fine singing voice and her guitar playing drives Val Halla’s distinctive sound.
As well, Valerie spent a year and half studying recording engineering:
After years of attempting to grab the magic of her live show on a recording, Valerie became frustrated with paying others to record her music, and being unsatisfied with the end result. She took it upon herself to train under some of Canada’s top engineers at a Vancouver recording studio.
Multi-talented indeed!
Valerie is joined in Val Halla by a VERY tight and heavy rhythm section comprised of Neil Towers on 6-string bass and Tayo Branston on drums.

Valerie has been using a Mack Heatseeker HS-18 on tour and filed the following report from the road:
“The amp is a dream by the way! A lot of sound guys were losing their minds over it in fact. There was a guy named Ian in Saskatoon who did our sound who was threatening to steal it Ha Ha! Our sound man Joe in Winnipeg said that it was one of the greatest guitar tones he had heard in his bar ever.
I found it so great to use, because I was one of those forever knob turners ... going back and making adjustments, continually trying to get the tone that was always so elusive to me. Now I just plug in, turn it up and throw it on Melt and I'm golden. There is one song we do called "Can't Sleep", more of a ballad. I just walk over and turn the knob to Hot, change which pickup I use and turn down my guitar volume just a hair to take back the distortion a tad. And when that song is done I just click everything back. No sweat! It’s a dream!”
Stay tuned to Valerie’s and Val Halla’s sites, there is sure to be lots happening!
