Michael McKenzie

Michael grew up in rural Alberta, in the quiet town of Medicine Hat, and started playing guitar at the age of 11.

"My first Guitar Hero was Ace Frehley from Kiss, as I loved his vibrato, and aggressive style."

His pursuit of all things guitars and rock n’ roll, involved moving to Edmonton for a brief stint at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton, a summer in Vancouver touring and playing all over Alberta, Saskatchewan, and B.C, spent 3 years in Calgary teaching at Guitarworks, and playing around town with various cover bands, and singer/songwriters.

Michael  moved to Toronto, ended up becoming a member of Universal Honey (ex- Pursuit of Happiness members), and touring/opening all over North America for acts such as the Goo Goo Dolls, Grant Lee Buffalo, The Wallflowers, Alanis Morrisette, Space Hog, The Tragically Hip, 54/40, and too many others to even remember!  In the phot below Michael is on the right next to his musical partner Mack Endorsing Artist Todd Lefever and their Heatseeker HS-18s!

Toronto ended up becoming home, after years of traveling and touring. "I got into recording andMEAs/michael_todd.png engineering after leaving Universal Honey, and started producing and playing guitar with other songwriters and musicians.

I've always wanted a place to have a place where like minded teachers could teach rock 'n' roll and the love of music to students who wanted more out of their music lessons," so Red House Music Academy was born in 2009.

Michael plays a Heatseeker HS-18.
